Designed by Berlin-based architect Anoe Melliou, Axis is a minimalist magnetic candle holder and sculptural vessel inspired by geometric coordinate systems and the cosmological concept of the axis mundi. Engineered with an ultra-slender vertical silhouette, each column conceals a magnetic base that anchors securely to any ferritic surface.

Functioning as a modular design system, Axis adapts fluidly across spatial configurations—operating as an elongated taper holder or a delicate vessel for single floral stems. Handcrafted in Berlin, the piece reflects Melliou’s architectural inquiry into structural syntax, transformable systems, and the dynamic relationship between objects and their surrounding space.

Designer

Anoe Melliou is a Greek-born architect and designer operating an interdisciplinary studio in Berlin. Trained in architecture and structural syntax, Melliou develops reconfigurable objects and spaces that explore the relationship between geometry, human interaction, and environmental setting. Her work treats structural integrity as a dynamic process—utilizing magnetic joinery, modular steel components, and precision architectural alignments. In addition to her studio practice, Melliou is the founder of Regarding Relations, a curatorial platform dedicated to architectural theory and contemporary design research.
