Lovers lamp by Asher Gillman stands as a study in micro-architecture, translating vernacular structural forms into an intimate, luminous volume. Crafted in Douglas fir wood, the piece pairs an upright, slatted shade with a grounded base, maintaining an architectural clarity where jointed construction and natural grain rhythm define its silhouette.

The form is punctuated by a heart-shaped motif carved directly into the timber, revealing an arrow switch. Originating as a personal gesture, the work balances geometric precision against a quiet, emotional resonance. Operating between structural artifact and atmospheric light source, Lovers lamp casts a warm, directional glow that alters the surrounding space without relying on decorative excess.

Designer

Based in Los Angeles and trained in furniture design, Asher Gillman constructs sculptural objects that sit at the intersection of cultural memory and quiet structural rigor. His practice draws energy from a distinct geographic tension: bridging the folk craft of his rural Pennsylvania origins—traditional timber barns, decorative cutouts, and Shaker restraint—with the raw, sun-baked landscape of Southern California. Working primarily in timber and metal, Gillman elevates jointed construction into the central narrative of each piece, collapsing the line between structure and ornament. The resulting works exist as grounding, contemplative presences, bringing an understated material warmth and narrative depth to an interior.

Material Variations & Handcrafted Character

Each work presented by Pièce de Résistance is individually hand-crafted or produced in limited studio editions using raw, natural, or hand-worked materials—including wood, metal, resin, and ceramic. Due to the artisanal methodology and organic nature of these materials, subtle variations in texture, grain, tone, patination, and minor dimensional nuances are inherent to the process. Imagery and gallery display pieces (including Artist Proofs) serve as accurate references, but final pieces may display unique, natural distinctions. These variations are essential to the artistic integrity of collectible design and do not constitute defects.

Limitation of Liability

Neither Pièce de Résistance nor its represented designers and artists shall be held liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages resulting from the handling, installation, use, or placement of any object. The gallery and its designers assume no liability for damage, wear, or alteration occurring after final delivery and client acceptance, including damage resulting from improper installation, environmental exposure, or normal wear and tear.
