Oscillating between functional object and sculptural presence, Chair 02 by German artist Victor Hahner highlights the expressive potential of raw timber. Defined by a straight-backed rectilinear frame and a subtle, ergonomically contoured seat, the chair’s defining feature is its arched backrest, deeply carved with Hahner’s signature "fingerprint" grooves that ripple across the wood grain.

Crafted in solid ash and treated with a rich, dark stain, the piece celebrates the tactile imprint of hand tools. The repeating concentric relief on the crest rail captures light and shadow dynamically, turning a minimalist seat frame into a visceral, material-driven sculpture.

Artist

German artist and designer Victor Hahner operates in the fluid space between sculptural art and functional furniture. Applying the precision of metalwork to large-scale timber and functional forms, his studio practice relies on intuitive hand-carving techniques—most notably his signature "fingerprint" textures—that emphasize touch, raw material presence, and a conscious relationship with daily objects.

Return Policy

ll sales are final. Due to the unique nature of gallery acquisitions, limited editions, and bespoke productions, we do not accept returns, refunds, or cancellations once an order or deposit is confirmed. Transit & Condition Claims: Every piece is inspected and documented prior to release. Transports are conducted via specialized white-glove art logistics. The recipient must inspect the shipment upon delivery in the presence of the carrier. Any claim regarding transit damage must be noted on the delivery receipt and submitted to info@piecederesistance.com within 24 hours with high-resolution photographs of the damage and packaging. Failure to report within this window constitutes full acceptance of the piece in its delivered state.

Material Variations & Handcrafted Character

Each work presented by Pièce de Résistance is individually hand-crafted or produced in limited studio editions using raw, natural, or hand-worked materials—including wood, metal, resin, and ceramic. Due to the artisanal methodology and organic nature of these materials, subtle variations in texture, grain, tone, patination, and minor dimensional nuances are inherent to the process. Imagery and gallery display pieces (including Artist Proofs) serve as accurate references, but final pieces may display unique, natural distinctions. These variations are essential to the artistic integrity of collectible design and do not constitute defects.

Limitation of Liability

Neither Pièce de Résistance nor its represented designers and artists shall be held liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages resulting from the handling, installation, use, or placement of any object. The gallery and its designers assume no liability for damage, wear, or alteration occurring after final delivery and client acceptance, including damage resulting from improper installation, environmental exposure, or normal wear and tear.
