Carved with fluid, organic symmetry, this side table by Santeri Mortti brings a quiet, ritualistic presence to solid oak. The piece rises from a flared, weighted base into a slender column that blossoms seamlessly into a smooth, circular tabletop. Its continuous, hand-lathed profile carries a soft, uninterrupted rhythm, where the warm, amber grain of the timber flows endlessly along its contours.

Set directly into the surface are delicate, dark marquetry inlays—a single stem flower flanked by a pair of bees, rendered with graphic clarity against the pale grain. Rather than superficial decoration, these shadow-like intrusions feel like private notes suspended within the timber. Operating at the boundary of domestic utility and pure form, the table anchors an interior with its grounded proportion, subtle luminosity, and the unhurried weight of patient handwork.

Operating in Helsinki, Santeri Mortti explores the quiet dialogue between human intention and living timber. Working across scales—from intimate tactile pieces to architectural forms—Mortti’s methodology is deliberately slow, grounded in the reductive discipline of traditional hand tools. Bypassing industrial processes, he allows the grain, internal tension, and natural character of the wood to dictate each final geometry.

Shipping for collectible works and limited editions is quoted individually based on destination and delivery requirements. Upon submitting your inquiry with your delivery address, our team will calculate specialized white-glove transport, insurance, and custom crating fees, providing a comprehensive quote alongside your price request.
Return Policy

All sales are final. Due to the unique nature of gallery acquisitions, limited editions, and bespoke productions, we do not accept returns, refunds, or cancellations once an order or deposit is confirmed. Transit & Condition Claims: Every piece is inspected and documented prior to release. Transports are conducted via specialized white-glove art logistics. The recipient must inspect the shipment upon delivery in the presence of the carrier. Any claim regarding transit damage must be noted on the delivery receipt and submitted to info@piecederesistance.com within 24 hours with high-resolution photographs of the damage and packaging. Failure to report within this window constitutes full acceptance of the piece in its delivered state.

Material Variations & Handcrafted Character

Each work presented by Pièce de Résistance is individually hand-crafted or produced in limited studio editions using raw, natural, or hand-worked materials—including wood, metal, resin, and ceramic. Due to the artisanal methodology and organic nature of these materials, subtle variations in texture, grain, tone, patination, and minor dimensional nuances are inherent to the process. Imagery and gallery display pieces (including Artist Proofs) serve as accurate references, but final pieces may display unique, natural distinctions. These variations are essential to the artistic integrity of collectible design and do not constitute defects.

Limitation of Liability

Neither Pièce de Résistance nor its represented designers and artists shall be held liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages resulting from the handling, installation, use, or placement of any object. The gallery and its designers assume no liability for damage, wear, or alteration occurring after final delivery and client acceptance, including damage resulting from improper installation, environmental exposure, or normal wear and tear.
